Unlocking Knowledge in the Southern Cites - Integrating Housing policies

The second peer learning event was held in November 2011, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It pursued the overall goal of obtaining insights into the projects and approaches of Sao Paulo in reaching their objectives of enhancing living conditions for the inhabitants of informal settlement. 

It was hosted by different units of Sao Paulo State administration, mainly by the EMPLASA, the metropolitan planning agency. The participants included the representatives from Hyderabad, Sydney, paris, Santiago, Medellin, and the South African cities: Durban, Johnnesburg, and Cape Town, including UCLG and Metropolis.

Besides, this peer learning events, more specific cooperation on housing policies and practicies was established between Southern African cities and Sao Paulo within the UCLG and Metropolis network.
