UCLG, FLACMA, CNM, CONGOPE and UNDP join forces for Agenda 2030
Another important step in the global challenge of the SDG localization process in the Latin American Region took place at the “Oficina de Localização da Agenda 2030” in Belem (Brazil) during the 25th and 27th of April. The event was organized by the National Association of Brazilian Municipalities (CNM) in collaboration with United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Federation of Latin American Cities, Municipalities and Associations (FLACMA), Federation of the Associations of the Municipalities of Pará (FAMEP) and United and Cities Local Governments (UCLG).
The workshop aimed to foster local capacities in planning and land management in the context of SDG localization. The alignment of these public tasks with the Agenda 2030 is crucial to guarantee sustainable development in the territories and regions. Furthermore, the event provided a great opportunity to exchange experiences between regions and cities and promoted peer-learning between participants. CONGOPE was not just active as facilitator but also represented UCLG during the event on site.
This two day event in Belem is the most recent of a series of strong and important efforts in Latin America to implement the Agenda 2030 in all regions and territories.
